Production date: 1815.
Description: antique engraving with portrait of Michelangelo, half-length, facing front; after a so-called self-portrait (probably wrongly attributed to Michelangelo). The source for numerous copies, the portrait was probably painted about 1545, when Michelangelo would have been around seventy.
Inscription content: Lettered below image with title and production details: "Engraved by A. Francois from the portrait by the artist" and "London, Virtue & Co Limited".
Condition: a light spot on upper left corner. Otherwise in good condition.
