Engraving of Velazquez by the excellent engraver Bartolomé Maura y Montaner (Palma de Mallorca 1844- Madrid 1926). It belongs to the series of seven prints engraved by Maura during 1869 and 1870 from paintings by Velázquez. Calcografía acquired the prints in 1870 and, before putting them on sale, commissioned Juan Gangoiti to engrave the lettering. Inscription at the top: "SPANISH SCHOOL. / National Museum - Painting No. 278." ; under the title: "PROPERTY OF CALCOG.A NL". Measurements: 30x43.1 cms.
