'Subir y Bajar' (plate 56) is a print where Godoy is represented in an allegorical way, who rose to power as the queen's lover. This Caprice is placed after the vanitas of the old coquette, and is in the center of a group of five prints referring to the theme of sexual perversion and excess. According to the latter, the characters represented would be the fallen ministers under the influence of Godoy; however, the intention seems more likely to suggest a general mood of political instability and demoralization due to the rapid and capricious succession of ministers.
