Animated landscapes. Nicolaes Pietersz. Berchem (1620-1683) is a Dutch painter, draftsman and engraver who is one of the main Dutch Italianists. His work had a lasting influence on landscape painting. He excelled in the representation of animals. In addition to 800 paintings and 500 drawings, he is the author of 50 engravings (this print included in this collection) which are emblematic of his style mixing in a phantasmagorical landscape of domestic animals and peasants, shepherds, washerwomen. The print was engraved in the 18th century by Landry.
