Latting Observatory N.Y. (1850) Size: 15,5x24 cms. Condition: it has foxing visible on scan. The Latting Observatory was a wooden tower built in New York as part of the All Nations Industrial Exposition of 1853, next to the Crystal Palace. It was on the north side of 42nd Street, between Fifth and Sixth avenues, where Bryant Park now stands. Conceived by Waring Latting and designed by the architect William Naugle, the observatory was a 96 meter high octagonal tower in reinforced iron wood.
