Toledo
Antique prints of Toledo
Seventeen antique prints of Toledo, from a Pieter van der Aa engraving of 1715 to a 1937 ink drawing for a Civil War souvenir vignette. The strongest group is nineteenth-century lithography: Asselineau's plates of the cathedral interior, the cloister of San Juan de los Reyes and the Hospital de Santa Cruz, and views of the Puerta del Sol by Parcerisa, with figures by Puiggarí, and by M. Pujadas, some in original colour.
Toledo, with its Gothic, Mudéjar and Renaissance monuments crowded on a hill above the Tagus, was a favourite of the Romantic lithographers.
All pieces are original unless stated otherwise, with technical details and measurements.
