Alexandre de Laborde

Antique prints by Alexandre de Laborde

Alexandre de Laborde's Voyage pittoresque et historique de l'Espagne, published from 1806, remains one of the finest illustrated accounts of Spain produced for a French audience. This selection includes views such as the Estanys de Almenara, Tarragona harbour, the Mezquita of Córdoba and the Roman aqueduct at Peña Cortada, several hand-coloured, engraved between 1806 and 1820 by Lorieux, Dequevauviller and Louis-Pierre Baltard.

The series is prized by collectors of Spanish topography and by anyone seeking a decorative view of a specific town or landmark. Every engraving is an original period impression, described with technique and exact measurements.
