Joaquín Pi y Margall
Antique prints by Joaquín Pi y Margall
Joaquín Pi y Margall engraved the outline illustrations for a nineteenth-century Spanish edition of Homer, working closely after John Flaxman's Neoclassical designs. This selection includes Mercury ordering Calypso to release Ulysses, Achilles and Agamemnon, and Ulysses pleading with Circe, engraved between 1860 and 1871.
The category interests collectors of Spanish book illustration and of Flaxman's influence abroad. Every engraving is an original period impression, with a technical description and exact measurements.
