Antique prints of Paris
This section holds our antique prints of Paris and Versailles, from 1687 to 1940. Pierre Aveline's copper engravings of the gardens of Versailles under Louis XIV open the group; nineteenth-century steel engravings after Rouargue and Lalaisse follow, with the Hôtel de Cluny, the Bourse and a general view of the city, and an 1845 print of the Samaritaine pump demolished in 1813.
Later etchings, among them a signed view of the Medici fountain in the Luxembourg gardens, show the city as artists saw it in the early twentieth century.
All pieces are period originals unless stated otherwise, with a technical description and measurements.
