John Flaxman
Antique prints after John Flaxman
John Flaxman (1755–1826) devised a spare, linear style of outline illustration for Homer's Iliad and Odyssey that was widely re-engraved through the nineteenth century. This selection includes Achilles and Agamemnon, Ulysses and blind Demodocus, and Telemachus and Mentor at Pylos, engraved by Joaquín Pi y Margall and William Roffe between 1849 and 1861.
The category suits collectors of Neoclassical illustration and admirers of Homeric subjects. Every engraving is an original period impression, with a technical description and exact measurements.
