Pierre Aveline
Antique prints by Pierre Aveline
Pierre Aveline the Elder engraved a well-known series of views of the gardens of Versailles and its surroundings under Louis XIV, dated around 1687. This selection includes the canal and cascades of Vaux-le-Vicomte, the Baths of Apollo, the Char de Pallas and the royal stables, alongside the cascades of Saint-Cloud and the gardens of Saint-Germain-en-Laye.
The category interests collectors of French garden history and of the decorative art of the Grand Siècle. Every engraving is an original period impression, with a technical description and exact measurements.
