It comes from España artística y monumental (Paris, 1842-1850), the great work of Genaro Pérez Villaamil published by the house of Hauser, which fixed the Romantic image of Spanish heritage after the disentailment. Villaamil drew this view from a sketch made from life by Valentín Carderera, and the stone was worked in the Parisian workshop of Danjoy. Of the monastery, today all but vanished, it is one of the most valuable pictorial records.
