Church Interior during the Sermon - Watercolor by Nora Bourne - 1941

Original watercolor by the English painter Nora Bourne, dated 1941 and signed with the monogram "N.B." on the back of a pew. It shows a church interior during the sermon: the minister in the carved wooden pulpit, the congregation in their hats in the pews, the organ pipes and two vases of flowers above the choir.

The strength of the sheet is its light, worked in gray and mauve glazes that leave the interior in half-shadow against the side window.
