Antique 18th-century etching and engraving of a ragged boy seated under a ruined arch: torn jacket, broken boots, a sack and a few apples at his feet, and at the left the wooden box the Savoyard boys carried across Europe. Excellent quality of line in the face and the drapery.
The wandering young Savoyard was one of the favorite subjects of French 18th-century genre prints, half picturesque and half social record.
