The tower was raised in 1719 by the pasha Ahmed Ben Ali El-Rifi, demolished after a French bombardment and rebuilt in 1759 under Sultan Mohamed III. Martil, called Rio Martin during the Spanish Protectorate, was the natural port of Tetuan. An uncommon view on the market.
