Gerard Hoet (1648-1733) designed one of the most widely circulated illustrated Bible series of the 18th century, engraved by the best Dutch burins and published in the Figures de la Bible (1720) and in the Taferelen der voornaamste geschiedenissen van het Oude en Nieuwe Testament, issued at The Hague in 1728.
