Original copper engraving of 1570 with the plan of the Mole of Hadrian - the emperor's mausoleum, today Castel Sant'Angelo - surveyed and measured in Roman palms by Antonio Labacco: the square base, the concentric rings of chambers and the helical ramp that climbs to the center. The Italian text at the head explains that the solid core held no void other than the stair running through it.

Antonio Labacco (c. 1495 - c. 1570), a pupil of Antonio da Sangallo the Younger, measured and drew the Roman antiquities gathered in his Libro appartenente a l'architettura himself; it is one of the most influential repertories of the Renaissance. This example comes from the Bolognini Zaltieri edition of 1570.
