It is annotated in pencil "Outer Gateway" at the lower left and "Bastion" beside the tower. On the reverse, in the same hand: "Bamburgh Castle. Panoramic View taken between the Two Gatehouses. See also No. 3", with a note by the artist on the color of the rocks. It is therefore a study from nature belonging to a numbered series.
Medium: Original watercolor on paper.

Condition: Good condition, with the paper lightly toned at the edges and pencil annotations on the reverse.
