English Village by the Brook - Anonymous Original Watercolor - 19th C.

Original 19th-century English watercolor of a village seen among trees: the roofs and brick chimneys, the church spire rising behind the treetops and a waterlogged lane in the foreground. Ranges of olive green and earth tones, with very confident dark touches in the masses of foliage. Presented in a period mount with hand-ruled fillets.

Medium: Watercolor on paper.
Date: 19th century.
Dimensions: Watercolor 14.4 x 9.3 in (36.5 x 23.7 cm); mount 17.7 x 14.8 in (45 x 37.5 cm).
Condition: Good in the watercolor, with stable color and no visible staining. The mounting board is badly deteriorated at the back, with paper losses and remains of old adhesive.
