Original 18th century engraving with the west front of the church of St. Olave, in Old Jewry, in the heart of the City of London. Signed in the lower left corner B. Cole sc., by the London engraver and publisher Benjamin Cole.

The church, destroyed in the Great Fire of 1666, was rebuilt in the last third of the 17th century; today only the tower that appears in the print still stands, built into a later building, which makes these views a document of a vanished London.

Medium: Copper engraving on paper.
Engraver: Benjamin Cole (1695-1766).
Date: 18th century.
Dimensions: Plate mark 9.6 x 8.4 in (24.5 x 21.3 cm).
Condition: Good condition, with foxing proper to the period visible in the photograph; the paper is trimmed along the top, with a somewhat irregular edge.
