"Se repulen" (They spruce themselves up) is plate no. 51 of Los Caprichos by Francisco de Goya (1746-1828): a monstrous creature with great bat wings trims the toenails of another, who smiles with satisfaction, with a pair of scissors, while a third, owl-faced, peers out between them. The series of 80 plates, published in 1799, is Goya's great satire on the vices, abuses and superstitions of the Spanish society of his day.

This impression belongs to the 5th edition, printed at the Calcografía Nacional between 1881 and 1886. The prints were bound along their upper edge and the title page bears Goya's self-portrait. The paper is thick and without watermarks, as Thomas Harris states in his book.
